Message from our adjudicator to our finalists
Concert Pianist / Piano Pedagogue Professor Alan Fraser from Serbia Director of Alan Fraser Piano Institute |
Dear Performers in the Final Round:
It was such a pleasure and honour to watch your performances in the final round of the Grand Metropolitan International Music Competition last week! All of you are developing your talent and learning to share it in a way that allows the composer and your own personality to come to life. It was so exciting to hear such a variety of instruments and compositions, and performers of different ages and levels of accomplishment. Each of you has a special gift for music. You are all fortunate enough to study with caring and inspiring teachers. I was very impressed with your teachers’ efforts despite all the restrictions we have been facing lately. I especially appreciated performances that showed a good grasp of musical style and character, sensitivity to tone quality and musical phrasing, a carefully crafted technique, and plenty of rhythmic vitality. Of course, some of you may practice more than others, and some of you had bigger musical or technical challenges to conquer.I suspect that few of you have been travelling lately. However, your musical studies and performances enable you to explore the world of different composers, and to share that with others. Keep in mind that every musical experience will enable you to continue on the path of musical growth and exploration. Thank you once again for the opportunity to hear such fine performances. All best wishes for continued musical development. Dr. Thomas Green (Adjudicator) |
Stay tuned!
